Retail penalty rates from 1 July 2026

For example, 8 hours on a Sunday as a level 1 casual pays $389.34 before tax.

Questions

Is the casual loading added on top of Saturday rates?
No. The casual Saturday rate (150%) already includes it. Only the highest rate is paid for each hour.
What’s the rate after 6 pm?
Monday to Friday after 6 pm: 125% for full-time and part-time workers, 150% for casuals.
Is overtime included?
No, this calculator covers ordinary hours. Overtime starts after 38 hours a week or 9 hours in a day. Monday to Saturday it’s 150% for the first 3 hours, then 200%; 200% on Sundays and 250% on public holidays. Casuals add their 25% loading to each.
