Questions
Is PayJar free?
Yes. Clocking in and out, overtime, tips, checking your paycheck, your full history and Excel or CSV exports are free. Pro is a one-time purchase for unlimited jobs, PDF timesheets and bonuses or deductions.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up. Everything is saved on your phone.
Does it work for servers and bartenders?
That’s who it’s for. Log cash and card tips, your share of a tip pool, tip-out and sales. Your hourly rate with tips is what’s left after tip-out.
Does PayJar calculate overtime?
Yes. Weekly overtime after 40 hours is on from the start. You can turn on daily overtime and double time if your state requires them.
Does it help at tax time?
It keeps your tips shift by shift, cash and card apart, and exports the year to Excel or CSV, which beats rebuilding it from memory in April. It isn’t tax advice: for that, a tax preparer or the IRS.
What happens to my data if I change phones?
On iPhone, PayJar can back up to your own iCloud. On Android, your phone’s Google backup includes it if backup is on. You can also export a backup file and import it on the new phone.
What data does the app send?
Only anonymous usage statistics (for example, “exported a PDF”) and crash reports, without amounts, job names or notes. You can turn them off in Settings. The details are in the privacy policy.
Is this legal or tax advice?
No. PayJar gives estimates for your own records. Your pay stub is the official record, and your state labor department can answer legal questions.
Is PayJar available in Spanish?
Yes. PayJar is in English, Spanish and Japanese. It starts in your phone’s language, and you can change it in Settings. Ver en español.
